Cast At Location

One of the things that makes us unique at Shem Hague is our 'Cast At Location' service. We can make your jewellery anywhere in the world, whether its up a mountain or in the middle of an Ocean, within reason of course! 

Why do we offer this? Because we believe in sentimentality and understand that a lot of individual people or couples have there 'special places' like for example a place where your partner proposed to you. 

For this service our rings are cast using a process called 'sand casting' so we make a mould in wax, make an imprint of it in sand and pour molten gold, silver or platinum into the sand mould. This also means if your 'special location' is a beach, we can use the sand from that beach to make your rings. You can also send us in sand from a place close to your heart and we can cast using that sand in our Notting Hill Studio. 

The whole process from making the mould to pouring the molten metal is done on location. This service gives your jewellery a truly unique beginning and unlike any other jewellery that is made within a workshop. We don't know anyone else that offers this service, as the logistical challenges are immense. 

Some of our cast at location areas have been in the Scottish Highlands, the coasts of Greece and Italy, the South coast of England, and even Lake Como! 

Most of our requests are wedding or engagement rings, in the locations where people have proposed. Which honestly is quite romantic!

The cost for this service does of course vary, places in the U.K will be far less expensive than for example Italy and we will price this on an individual basis. Our charge for this service starts at £295 and this includes up to a 200 mile radius of London. Anything out of this area will be charged differently, please contact us if this is the case and we can give you an exact amount. 

Sand locations.

We also have a range of sands that we have collected on our travels from all over the world, but predominately from the U.K. So if you have a memorable or favourite beach that you want your jewellery made from let us know and we will see if we have that sand in stock or we might be able to source it. It is a much cheaper alternative to the 'Cast At Location' service that we offer, yet still embellishes a lot of sentiment. 

Each sand offers a different texture that is unique only to that beach, and is impossible to replicate. So when casting in a particular sand you create a one off piece.

If you do not have a particular sand in mind then we usually cast with either Bournemouth or St Ives, Cornwall sands, as these are two fabulous places enshrined in positive feelings and emotions.
