The South Downs 100 Race

This was my 3rd attempt at the 100 mile distance, I trained incredibly hard since December and spent a lot of time in remote hilly and mountainous areas. I knew I had to train on rolling hills, so thats what I did.

Unfortunately I only made it to mile 71, I think in part due to starting the race far too fast. A lesson well learnt! I try again in January at the Arc of Attrition 100 in Cornwall. I have some fantastic training runs lined up for the South coast and I will be wax carving along the cliffs in many different locations, so there will be lots of new jewellery coming to light.

I have some freeform tourmaline and sapphires that I pre cut and are currently in the process of having finished to start on a new collection based on the Peak District, which is very exciting! All of the wax models will be made on the mountain tops.

The picture below is a few minutes after sunset at Devils Dyke along the South Downs Way. Truly a unique and beautiful area, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to run most of it.
